Friends are forever?

Friends come and go in our lives. What I found difficult to deal with a few years ago was accepting the fact that people come into certain phases of our lives, and then they move on afterwards, without you. I was reluctant to make new friends coz I wanted to hold on dearly to the ones close to me. I figured they should have my time and attention the most. Other new friends simply aren't worth the trouble.

That has slowly changed over the years. I've met new friends, perhaps not achieving the level of closeness we had when growing up. But friends nonetheless. And I'm thankful in a way, that recent spate of events brought back some old friends as well. Sharing new experiences which make us close again.

This is for a friend whom I've known for 6 years, whom I used to share an apartment with, whom I miss quite dearly from time to time as she's now growing roots in Canada. Yes, Al, if you're reading this, it's coming your way!

SMASHED

Many times we are caught up with the latest trend. I'm susceptible as well. However, the recent SMASH craze introduced by K & Co had me thinking. Do we really need a special folder just to cut and paste our memories? It's understandable that the pretty patterned papers are very appealing, even more so, the entire range of accessories that come with it. Everything from envelopes, page dividers, markers, paperclips, tags, etc. Do we really need a homogenized look?

What SMASH did for me is to remind me of the high school days where we cut and paste pictures, stickers, coasters, or anything we deemed interesting and paste them on colored construction papers. We then either punch holes and tie the pages together, or simply staple them. We use post it notes when we didn't have special tags. We paste an entire map if we don't have the envelopes... Scrapbook supplies were unheard of back in those days. We make do with our creativity.

I bought a SMASH folder and some of the tags for reference. But in the end, I also created one of my own. Truth is, I very much preferred the one I created. :) It's nothing special, just a combination of patterned papers from various DCWV packs. And then I added embellishments and used my Cinch. I have to admit though, I would buy many of the markers because of the glue tip at the other end of the pen!

This, I gave it to a friend who would be traveling during the summer holidays.

How's your Sunday so far?

2012!

I know the 1st quarter of 2012 has passed... And I'm really slow in updating this. However, so far, these are the projects created! I'm quite pleased with myself.

This mini album was created for a new friend. I like how the combination of the DCWV papers work. Paper packs are great coz they reduce the time spent on coordinating patterned papers. Some experienced scrapper may say that they get fun out of matching the papers but for me, by the time I pulled out all the matching embellishments, I probably wouldn't be in a mood to scrap anymore. Hence, I like the convenience of the paper packs.

Time to Catch Up

It's been eons since I've blogged about something. Or rather, the culmination of events in 2011 that made blogging... low on the priority list. However, I would like to catch up as much as possible...

The blog may take a new turn, it may not just be on my scrap projects or my travels anymore... Let's see where the wind takes me.

Here's a summary of the very few projects that were created in 2011.

Mini albums created sometime during the 2nd quarter of 2011.

I liked the guest book a lot. It was possibly my 2nd WOW project since the 9 x 9 frame which I did back in Jun 2010. Come to think of it... not many creations for 2011. I know the reasons why... hopefully 2012 will be different!
