Sponge Bob & Patrick using Echo Park Papers

Finally got a chance to share a h-a-p-p-y project with you. Especially since today is a happy day!

This is for a friend who so generously spent hours creating some .psd thing for me. :)

Using mostly Echo Park's Hello Summer Collection and lots and lots of washi tape!

I like how the colors cheer me up! The weekend is coming! YAY!

Today's Parents

This came as a surprise this afternoon.

It's really happening. The start of a new journey!

This couldn't have been possible if not for the keen eye of Wine & Dine Experience's Marketing Director who spotted my project on the desk and my supportive Project Manager for allowing me the free rein to design the projects. It's a new journey, but an exciting one.

That said, a thank you to friends and peers who have been sooooo encouraging and supportive since I started my scrapping journey few years back. The words of wisdom from some of the masters in the industry who are so generous in sharing their wealth of knowledge! Thank YOU!

First canvas experiment

First time working on canvas. I kinda like the effect! Canvas to me is a scary thing... I fear the unknown results... but at the same time, the elation is doubled when something works! This one is going to USNS William McLean.

A question to ponder... is there some element of truth to the statement, "Relationships that started when you were in your twenties hardly ever last"... Is it really true? Do the shifting perspectives and goals change that? What you thought was what you've wanted, no longer is the case now? Hmm...

A little me time!

Decided to scrap for myself today. It's cathartic having been through 3 projects in a month! This SMASH album is going to be about my life in 2012. The every day things, the happy and not so happy moments. Hence, the title "2012... through the eyes of Esther".

Hell is other people

I was in town searching for a tote bag yesterday. Mine was old and mangy and on some days, I think it smells! Of coz, Sod's Law has it that I couldn't find the perfect tote. Found this online from Kate Spade instead,

A very helpful friend informed me that if I really wanted the bag, she has a friend in the States to help ship it back for me. Then it got me thinking... Do I really need a Kate Spade? Then I thought about my shoe collection, most of them in storage boxes, the bags, my friends' shoes and bags, hmm... how much stuff does one really need?

When my dad passed away last December, all he had was 2 bags of clothes in supermarket plastic bags. The shoes, the bags, the labels meant nothing. We feel good for the moment, but it's only momentary. Our presence here is transcendental. Hence, some say to make the best of it, because the money can't be brought to the nether world. Some say the things can be passed to another generation.... I guess we all deal with materialism in different ways.

I live in a country where there is abundance. Singaporeans are a fortunate bunch. We have access to the latest trends and the ability to fly things in if prices are too steep. We can't deny that in the Asian culture, other people's perception of us still matter. Jean-Paul Sarte says it best, "Hell is other people." Can we truly be authentic given the society we live in?

This is what I've been working on this week. A pocket mini album using mainly DCWV, K&Co, Prima and Teresa Collins. DCWV's paper packs are so convenient! Cuts down time trying to match papers. But it takes the fun out of matching papers where sometimes we get pleasant surprises! So do you like to use paper packs where everything is matched for you readily, or do you like venturing out on your own?

Keeping the insides simple because of the patterned papers. This way of making a mini album is good for using up papers!

I think it's been a while since I did a layout... maybe that's next. Enjoy your remaining Sunday, and have a good week ahead!
